What you watch is your business
We don’t sell personal data or build advertising profiles. Your watch history stays on the server you choose.
Read our privacy policyPlex sells your data
Paying for Plex doesn’t opt you out. Its May 6, 2026 policy lists seven categories of personal data shared or sold to advertising companies, with no Plex Pass exemption.
These include identity, demographics, purchases, activity, location, inferences, and viewing metadata. Plex also collects seconds watched, seconds paused, seek counts, and buffering events.
Plex offers opt-outs and says it does not share Personal Content with third parties. These disclosures concern personal data, not private media files. “Sale” includes advertising disclosures under privacy law.
