Maximum HDR compatibility

Pixel Brite preserves authored dynamic HDR metadata and, for supported content, can provide both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision presentations. The app or browser automatically selects a presentation supported by the playback device and display. The original HDR format remains preferred; translated HDR approximates its appearance.

Compatible video gains the second HDR format without re-encoding. Other HDR conversions can require video processing and extra compute, which runs only when that playback is selected.

Choose Original to preserve compatible source video. Automatic adapts quality to the connection; lower tiers and fixed quality settings re-encode video. HDR output follows the device and display settings. On Apple TV, enable Match Dynamic Range.

Mac, iPhone, iPad & Apple TV

Pixel Brite uses the same format-aware playback path across its Apple apps. HDR10+ metadata is preserved in the Apple HLS presentation, with HDR10 available for displays that cannot use the dynamic metadata. Actual HDR output follows the device, connected display, and system display settings.

Dolby Vision profiles & enhancement layers

Dolby Vision requires a compatible device and display. HDR or SDR playback is available when Dolby Vision isn't supported.

Pixel Brite preserves HDR whenever the browser and display can present it. Safari receives Dolby Vision Profiles 5, 7, 8.1, and 8.4. Dolby Vision can be presented as compatible HDR on other HDR-capable paths, while SDR displays get automatic tone mapping. The original file remains untouched.
